Freshman Katherine Appelbaum has been charged with vandalism of real property after being arrested Saturday morning. Elon University Campus Police arrested Appelbaum in connection to the vandalism on campus last week and she was take to the Alamance County Jail on $800 secured bond.
According to Chuck Gantos, Chief of Elon University Campus Police, they are looking into the vandalism further for the person responsible for “the other color.”
“This is still an active investigation,” Gantos said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if other charges follow.”
Appelbaum has also been charged with underage drinking and resisting arrest and is scheduled to appear in the Alamance County District Court March 10, 2011.
UPDATE: Phoenix14News spoke with Locke Clifford, Appelbaum’s attorney, this evening. Clifford told Phoenix14News his client is not making any further comment at this time regarding the arrest.
